Look closely at the tree in the center of the picture. It has nice gash marks from Zane's snowmobile.
I think that Zane deserves a blog post all about him. Well, more about his answer to prayer (and ours). Snowmobiles are tons of fun. And Zane is fearless and at the same time courageous and at the same time scary, when it comes to snowmobiles (and skiing for that matter.)
I know this isn't the first time Zane has had a close call. Nor will it be the last. However, I plan to document this one on my blog.
We were five on this outing: Dan, Zane, Me, Tom and Seth. We were each on our own snowmobiles (thanks Blake!). And we travelled in that order. Dan first, Seth last, and the rest of us safely tucked in the middle. (That was a lot of pressure for Dan and Seth! Dad and I being beginners and Zane not yet 8 years old with a week old concussion....whew!)
We were on our way home. I was following Zane but suddenly he got so far ahead of me that I couldn't see him, so I sped up and still didn't catch up. In fact, I had passed him, as did we all, because Zane had gone too fast and left the trail....(see bottom picture: he had to jump off of his snowmobile and the machine plowed into a tree) Because he was down the hillside, I never saw him! Dan and Seth went into search mode and Tom and I stayed put. We thought we were manning a post but really I think Dan just wanted to be sure he didn't lose his parents as well.
Prayers were being offered. Zane told me later that he was praying too....that somebody would find him! Seth found him. Brought him to me. The men went off to extricate the crashed snowmobile. So Zane and I talked about the fact that God had watched out for him....prompted him to jump off the machine before it plowed into the tree AND prompted Seth where to find Zane.
All is well that ends well. Zane was protected and we are all grateful!
Zane, I'm glad you made it to your Golden Birthday! We love you and hope you have a terrific day!
