Kite Runner

So who has read this book, "Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini? I just finished it. Loved this line: "I wondered if that was how forgiveness budded, not with the fanfare of epiphany but with pain gathering its things, packing up, and slipping away unannounced in the middle of the night."
I would say this was the meat of the book. Tell me your thoughts if you have read the book.

I couldn't finish that book. I thought it was really well written and I really wanted to finish, but I seriously had nightmares! I'm a softy.

Loved this book. I agree that moral of the book is forgiveness. And maybe the power of second chances. I also think that it captures how children miss read the adults in their world and how this can lead to misconceptions about themselves.
I loved the historically accuracy of the book. My Iranian Uncle loved this book because he felt like it captures middle eastern culture and politics in a readable way.
It totally makes my top 20 list.

Thanks for your thoughts girls. Natalie, I have to admit there was a part I couldn't handle...saw it coming and just skipped about 4 pages or so. After that I was ok. Lara, I Love to read about other cultures in story form. Makes you feel like you understand better the way they think and act. It also made me thankful yet again that I was born in America...for all it's faults, it allows us the freedom to live our lives as we see fit.

I LOVED that book. Remember this past summer when you read A Thousand Splendid Suns? Well that was by this same author. (Maybe you already knew that) :)
