French Riviera

This is the first time we have had access to the internet! Just so you know, we have heard the news. It's in all the papers. The poor US economy and it's domino effect on the European market, as well as the Russian and Asian markets. We also got wind of the fact that Wachovia was bought out by Citigroup. Jake? What do you think??? And also that the buyers of Huntsman tried to get out of their purchase, but the courts voted in favor of Huntsman. The buyer can get out of their 6.5 billion deal with a measly 325 million. And of course we know that BYU is now ranked #8....and by some polls #7.
So much for world news.
We have had sun and more sun. It's summer here! Warm enough to swim in the sea. Which we did. On the beach in Cannes, we swam out to the platform so Dad could have his Cary Grant moment (it's a scene from 'It takes a Thief') We had drinks in the Carlton on the plage strip in Cannes. I was Grace Kelly and Dad was once again Cary Grant. But I don't mean to bore you. Just to let you know we are having a safe & fabulous time, despite the economy woes of the US. I'll share pictures later.
We are staying in Beaulieu sur Mer tonight and plan to take the train to Monoco for dinner. Back to Marseille on Friday night and the flight home on Saturday.
Looking forward to conference this week-end and also a chance to catch up with all of you!
Oh, and the house being sold out from under us? I'm not thinking about it for this week. Although it does pop into my head. Thanks for all your advice and solace. Tom doesn't think it's a sign to move to the States yet, but just a challenge to overcome. That is his initial reaction anyway. 'Challenge'. That seems like such a measly word for such a big stresser.

Wachovia getting bought out most likely means no job for us. And the little hope we do have for a job may mean a move to NY, which we probably won't do. Jake is confident in finding a new job with the resources he has through the MBA program and the BYU network. The big concern is selling the house...yeah right?! Well, we won't find out anything really until end of December. So we'll just wait. Even though I don't have the years and memories like you do, I'm still sad to say goodbye to our home and Charlotte. Crazy times!!!
