Seth and I were talking about blogs. It was decided that a blog is really a great way to 'journal'. He and Heidi lost their laptop, with all their pictures, but at least they have their blog that has some of their best pictures preserved on their page.
So with this in mind, I wanted to post this picture that Richard Grossen took during our First Herway Family Reunion.
Just to think where people had been living just prior to this shot:
Tom and I in Brussels Belgium
Dan/Lara/Seth/Heidi in Utah
Jake/Mel in North Carolina
Natalie/Noel in Texas
Nicole in Paris France
Steve in Hawaii
It was nothing short of a miracle to get everyone together, albeit only for 48 hours. Still, for the record, I was very grateful for the effort everyone made. I was grateful for this sweet blessing the Lord gave to us. A very sweet moment in time.
And now? We will spread to the wind once again.
Steve will be leaving for New Jersey this week.
Seth/Heidi are applying for medical residencies all over the US and will know in March where they have been matched.
Dan/Lara happy in Utah but also looking at Europe.
Jake/Mel are in transition with his job, but would like to stay in NC. Who knows.
Tom and I....well, we won't know until about Feb or March as well.
Nicole will graduate from BYU this spring. She will intern somewhere in the US. Again, who knows.
At this point, Natalie/Noel are staying put in Austin.
And thus this moment in time to capture. It really was magnificent.

Okay, love the pic of all the Herways..what a beautiful fam!
and I so agree about the blogs :)
It's really crazy how much life changes...it'll be interesting to see where everybody ends up in a couple of years.
We sure had a great time, and hope that it's not 3 years before we see everyone again.
I think Richard is a hero for capturing that picture. It was a great 48 hours. I love the blogs too because I feel like I am a part of everyone's life even though we are worlds apart. It's a great way to keep in-touch with loved ones while journaling about your life.
I hope we get to have a European adventure but I who knows what future holds....
I'm Mel, it will be interesting to see where everyone ends up and I can't wait until the next Herway Family Reunion.
I just re-read my comment and I have so many grammatical errors that it is embarrassing. I hope you get what I mean and I really should get more sleep. Sigh...
It really was so great to have everyone there. I definitely blog to journal. It is more for me than for anyone else. But I do enjoy reading the comments! :)
At least we know where Steve-o will be for the next 2 years. As for the rest of us, who knows?
