Ostia: second only to Pompeii in being perserved.
I love the old road. This town was deserted when Rome was taken over by the Gauls, then the river silted over and the town was preserved till now...It's been standing since before Christ, and was the main port for supplying military support. Hard to imagine. I think seeing Ostia was Tom's highlight.

Love it, love it, love it. Italy has a special place in my heart. It's my favorite country! Dameo Pattaca...brings back memories. So glad you got to do it again. Fun times

The picture of the moped inside made me laugh. I guess romans don't give parking tickets. haha
I love Rome! I would have definitely preferred to eat some real Italian pizza over a Thanksgiving turkey!
I think my husband should take me to Rome. These pictures are lovely and you and Tom make the ultimate traveling,dashing couple.
The think last time I was in Rome was when we met up with Jake & Mel (who at the time was Ms. Grossen!). Ah, Roma.
