Easter in Bonn

Drackenburg Schloss.  We hiked up here on Saturday and toured the chateau.  Beautiful views.  Just below the Drackenfel Ruins.  We had seen it a thousand times from across the river.  Glad we finally visited it.

Poppledorf Schloss in Bonn.  Another new area that Dad found for us to discover.

Drackenfel Ruins.  Frederick slew the dragon here....might even be a story in competition with Indian Bob for next time!  Quite a hike to get to the top but we loved it.
Remagen Bridge, the first point where the Allies crossed into the Rheinland.  Pop flew here.  The bridge collapsed 10 days after they crossed.

What is left of the Remagen Bridge.  We biked here and back and were so very tired, but the sunset was awesome.
Our highlights:
Breakfast at the Dreesen Hotel.  Bike and Hike.  Dinner at the Bad Godesburg Castle.  It was Michelin rated and we think it was our first time to eat at a rated restaurant!  Unbelievable tastes.  They finally finished the renovation of the tower and we climbed that as well.  It's certainly one of our favorite areas in Europe.  Dad lived in this fairyland for 3 years and I'm glad he did!  Made sure to come back and we have!

Camping!

What fun we had!  Luckily we didn't have to sleep in tents...so it was a step up from camping.  Our favorite part was s'mores over the campfire and our boat ride the next day.  This is the only photo I took of our stay in Austin.  We took Bryn out for lunch, visited the gymnastic class of Bryn&Isa, walked Brushy Creek, visited Austin's version of Hofstead Park, Phil's Ice House and Tom and I turned in our UT driver's license for a TX license!  I loved it because they said, "Welcome to Austin".....so I guess we are Texans?

Do we really live in Europe?

We are in the US so often, I am beginning to think we actually are there more than we are home!  So a few photos from Monterey and from Austin.  We had a super trip.  Now home for a couple of months.  And then guess what?  Back to the US of A!!!
Rented bikes here for the week.  Really the way to see the area

where Dad spent his days

where I spent my mornings

Cannery Row Inn.  Our room was the one on the top Right.  Nice view of the ocean, and right on the bike path.

The best fish ever.  Could have eaten there every night
The Monterey Bay Coastal Trail:  where I spent my afternoons
I love how the trail hugs the coast, it's a beautiful ride
always a view
seals, otters, sea lions:  they have the life
I like the rocky side of the bike path as well.  One way is rocks, the opposite direction you find the dunes
If I get to be cremated, please scatter some ashes right here!
A 'selfie' picture
Gorgeous!

Love the red snapper at the Fish house.  Want it now!
Dad's favorite Deli:  Reuben sandwiches.  Those kind of sandwiches remind us of Pop.  He loved them.

With any luck we are going back in November!!
