Today while Steve and I were buying some milk, the art center coordinator came up to me and said, "There is someone who wants to buy your painting that you have hanging in the center. How much would you sell it for?"
For starters, I couldn't even remember what painting I had in the art center! So Steve and I go to look at it again, and it's one that I did this past summer when Nicole and I had a painting spree! It's a Monet, but looks like a Van Gogh....
"So are you willing to sell it?"
Why not I say to myself, otherwise it just goes into the laundry room!
"Sure"
"Do you think $50 is a fair price?"
"Sure"
So does that mean I'm a professional artist now? Or does that just mean that some lady has no concept of art!!! Well, well. Somebody wants to buy my painting. I think for today I'll just feel really good about myself!
News flash! They finished Moorselstraat. This will only be news for Dan and Natalie because they saw first hand how much of a detour we were dealing with to get out of the neighborhood. It was ridiculous, and has been ridiculous since last September!!! In fact it was downright irritating. Today we drove and kept driving right along Moorselstraat without any weggommleggings! It was a moment of sheer disbelief. It is finished!! Luckily Steve was in the car with me so we could experience the event together. And what did they do that took them 8 months? Well, we have nice bike paths and a few speed bumps, and it's newly paved. Wahoo. That took 8 months? Belgium will forever win the prize for taking the most time on road repairs and not caring one whit what it does to traffic!
Lastly, in case anyone wants to get in touch with us, we will be in Sardinia all of next week. We leave bright and early tomorrow morning and will be back next Saturday. We are going to take the bus to the airport, and I'm surprised how much of a thrill that gives me! Simple pleasures! Oh, and where is Sardinia you may ask? It's an island in Italy, just north of Sicily. Supposed to be very natural and untouristic and stunning beaches, which will be too cold to go in, but that's ok!
So everyone have a good week, and we'll talk when we get back....

Wow! Congratulations on selling the painting. I am highly impressed and think you should consider yourself a professional.
Hurray! That is exciting about your painting. You should have sold it for $100 or $200. heehee. Well I'm happy happy for you (since bryn is walking around the house saying "happy happy" and trying on shoes right now).
and
Hurray for no more detours... for awhile.
No doubt in my mind...you're a professional. You should keep it up! Have a fantastic time in Sardinia. I was craving Italian pizza just last night.
You are an Artist. (say that with a french accent. it makes everything sound more fancy) Well, let me the first to request an original piece of art. We'd love to have one and I'd even pay $60, oh make $75.
Whoa! You're big time now! I told you they were way good when we were there last summer.
