It just happened so fast! Playing an awesome game of tennis. A very competitive game obviously. The ball went to one side of the court, the body to the other, but tried to correct....well, actually, I really don't know how it happened exactly. It just did. I heard the *crack*. I was hoping it was just a sprain, but after getting the x-rays, it's a fracture.
Not a broken ankle, although that was really swollen and painful. It was a bone in the foot! One of the outside bones. Lovely.
Dad is a very good nurse. I called him away from work and he came to the tennis club to rescue me. To the Doctor, to the clinic for x-rays and the cast.
So for one week I have this temporary cast. They left the front open to allow for more swelling. I am to be completely homebound for a week. No pressure whatsoever on the foot. Crutches. Lovely.
Next week I get the real cast. I get to have a walking cast, thank heavens. But not allowed to drive b/c....well, we do have a stick shift, but I'm not sure that will stop me entirely. But I'll try to be good.
Homebound for a month. Ummm.
We did have a ski week scheduled for next week. Canceled. Still, we put it off for a month. Hopefully I'll be back to normal by then. Wish me luck!

I'm so sorry! That's the pits. I broke my leg not too long ago. Not fun! I know how active you like to be,so being homebound for awhile must be torture. Hang in there...I hope you were winning the game:)
1st broken bone?! Wow. At least you can now sympathize right? I certainly can. I hope the month goes fast for you and that you'll get your ski trip in. You want me to send you some movies? :)
Oh my. I was surprised to see this post. Whoa. I am so sorry. Broken bones are a bummer. Well, at least you will have your eldest child there this weekend. I hope Dan can distract you a little bit. Good luck.
Or you can try one-legged skiing...? Ok, ok, ok. There are bounds to the human body but good thing you're in tip top shape - recovery will be quicker. Thankfully phone calls don't require legs so call me whenever - actually sometimes phone calls DO require legs if you have to run to the phone to answer it. Hm...
I'm so sorry! I'm impressed that you've been so active you're entire life and this is the first time you've broken anything.
Don't forget when you get bored to call me. ;)
