CAST AWAY

Yipee! Hooray! Feelin' Fine!
Actually I guess it is still broken. After the cast was taken off, they took another x-ray. Still broken. But that is normal. It takes 2 months to completely heal, and it's only been one month. So I still have to be careful.
"no tennis"

then a long pause and I ask, "how about skiing? My foot will be in a boot anyway, really like a cast, right???"
"ok"

Whine

So who else is more than ready for winter to be over??? I'm hoping if I change my header picture that the weather will get the hint. You know, time for more sun and a few signs of life to appear.
I realize it's only February. But it has been one heck of a long month. Stinkin' cold. Dreary, dark. Stupid cast. No tennis, no yoga. Dumb General Mills. Retarded water rights in Utah. These among other minor details that make you feel like you are hibernating in a tunnel.
You know, just generally in the mood for a shift in weather to help to make a general shift in my attitude about the ups/downs of life!
Come on Sun! Come on blue sky! Come on warmth! I'm thinking life will get good again on Thursday. That's the plan anyway.

Not safe!

Somehow I got roped into entertaining a friend of a friend. Don't get me wrong, she was lovely and fun to be with, however, I had no other way of picking her up from the metro than to drive over there and get her. Then we drove to Tervuren park and then we drove to Leuven. I know she didn't know that it was my first time to try driving with a cast on my foot....or that I shouldn't be driving with a cast on my foot! I was a nervous wreck for fear of getting in a wreck and then I would have been toast.
And then to top it off, we took them downtown for dinner. Tom says, "how is it that we are going out to dinner with people we don't even know and we don't even have time to go with our friends!"

Oh the irony of life.

Land for Sale

So Seth and Heidi are trying to rent/sell their condo via their blog. Good idea. I will follow suit.
Anybody want to buy 5 acres in Heber??? I'll give you a great deal!!! It's the 5 acres behind the house, but the pictures I used are looking out from the lot. Like I'm standing in the middle of the lot.
Best part are the views. BEAUTIFUL!

Homebound, but that's ok

So we woke up to several inches of snow this morning. Dad went into work around 10. The schools were canceled. It's cold. It's just so unnatural for Belgium.
So what does a homebound girl do??? I wrapped my foot in a plastic sack and donned my plastic boot, grabbed the shovel and had a ball.
I started with our house, then got carried away and started shoveling down the neighbors walk. Then I felt guilty that I did one neighbor, so I did the next and the next. By then I was in front of another American's house, so I crossed the street and did their house, and then up the street I went, back to our house. I ended when I came face to face with Marcel across the street!
Now don't be impressed. The snow was light as a feather and I was having fun. I just found it comical that I finally had time and energy to do a good turn because I have been forced to stay at home with a bum foot! And now that I have told you about it, I won't even get any blessings. Still, I had to tell somebody!

Loft, bunk or alcove beds save a lot of space, but it is a huge pain to make the bed. CIA International (no relation to the American institution with the same initials) developed this ingenious mechanism to lift and tilt the bed out so that making it is a snap. That is the key- you can design bunks and alcoves, but they have to be easy to use.

In the American dream home, each kid gets a private bedroom and bath; in Italy they use good design to get up to three kids on one wall of a room. "with SLED it is possible to group everything that is needed to furnish a room for 3 children against a single wall. And without Mum wearing herself out, thanks to “PRATICO”!

Dan comes home for a week-end!

It was wonderful in every way! Thanks for sharing Lara! I guess he had to come for work anyway, but hey, we were lucky the stars lined up....he was in between France and Germany appointments and we were in town.
I think Dan was secretly hoping that I would spoil him, but the reverse happened and he spoiled me! From holding umbrellas over my head, opening all the doors, doing the dishes, running small errands, cooking his own meals, grabbing the phone for me, etc. etc.
Amazingly enough, I haven't been bored. Between normal activities such as bathing or cooking or getting from one place to another taking triple the time.....and having lots of phone calls, and visitors dropping by, and my yoga certification exams (the paper part) to take, and having Dan here for the week-end. I still haven't had time to watch any movies!
Get my walking cast on Thursday evening. Looking forward to it.
